The Alaka’ina Foundation actively seeks financial and in-kind support from numerous corporations and foundations. The foundation seeks grants, matching donations and even volunteer assistance from both the Hawaiian and mainland communities. Foundation gifts provide the extra resources that allow Alaka’ina to achieve the next level of success, the margin of excellence that lies beyond what traditional grants alone can support.

If you are interested in learning more about how your corporation or foundation can partner with The Alaka’ina Foundation, please contact Vaughn Vasconcellos, President and Director of the Foundation at (808) 943-9545 or click here to e-mail the Fundraising department.

We thank the following foundations, corporations, trusts and associations for their generous financial support during the current year:

Drew Foundation Charitable Donation

  Young Brothers Hawaii

In March 2006 our Foundation received a significant charitable donation from the Drew Foundation located in Los Altos, California. Our board of directors is extremely grateful to John & Ellen Drew and their “ohana” (family) for their generosity.

In August 2006 Alakaina, with the generous assistance of Young Brothers Hawaii, shipped the Maui Digital Bus to the Island of Molokai to provide science education outreach to the K-12 community. This event offered engaging hands-on science learning activities not only to students at several of Molokai’s elementary schools, but also professional development opportunities to several teachers. Without the generous support of partners such as Young Brothers, the opportunity to utilize critical learning assets such as the Digital Bus on our smaller neighbor islands would not be possible.
