A ho‘okupu is a gift given in exchange for spiritual energy. The literal meaning is “to sprout, to activate growth.” One of the missions of the Alaka‘ina Foundation is to support community organizations and initiatives that promote leadership and educational opportunities for the youth of Hawai‘i.
