“Only 30% Of Our State Workforce Can Pass The Basic Computer Literacy Exam”


The numbers are even lower among our kūpuna (elders). Interestingly, even though our keiki and younger generations are the most “online” group ever, the data shows a concerning lack of computer skills and digital literacy in areas that support job skills, upward financial mobility and general economic development for our state.


The Alaka'ina Foundation has teamed with a non-profit that has over the last 10 years educated and given free devices to over 3,000 people through their flagship basic computer class.


Telemedicine is the only way to receive initial medical diagnosis and care as well as order prescription drugs in many rural areas of Hawaii.


This project has continues to provide education and equipment to rural areas of Hawaii and Kaua'i island
