Alaka’ina Foundation is a major sponsor of the Hawai’i First Robotics League for schools throughout the state. This week a “Meet the Professionals” event was held at the Hawaii State Convention Center in which participants got a chance to meet people from the tech and scientific community.
Later in the week teams conducted practice sessions there. For over 12 years our foundation has supported multiple teams and schools and recently with the formation of leagues we have increased our support with large donations that are used to support all teams within those leagues. This is a part of the three mission areas of the foundation. Those areas are normalization of ‘Olelo Hawai’i (includes culture, ancestry and history), Aloha ‘Aina (includes air, land and sea and the Hawaiian concept of Lawe aku, lawe mai or sustainability) and Ka Wa’a that is a metaphor of using the best of Ha Hawaii and Ike Hawaii blending with Western Technologies.
